11th April 2008 - Take Two have announced that Mafia 2 will be released on all 3 major games platforms at the same time. They also scotched rumours of a delayed PC release by announcing that the game will be released simultaneously on all 3 platforms. This will be good news for PC gamers who often have to wait for PC releases of their favourite games.

7th April 2008 - Tiscali Games have released some early information about Mafia 2. It seems the story will be set shortly after the end of World War II. The game won't be a direct sequel, it won't follow on from the events of Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven. Instead it will feature a whole cast of new characters. It will be set in Empire City which will be twice the size of the city of Lost Heaven which was featured in the original Mafia game.

11th March 2008 - Take Two have clarified the planned release dates for a number of games, including Mafia 2. They say the gammed is planned for release in their 2009 Fiscal year. This means the game is planned for a release no later than October 2009.

8th January 2008 - Illusion Softworks, the developers of Mafia: The City of Lost heaven, and Mafia 2 have been bought by Take Two Interactive Software. The software giant, Take Two, also own Rockstar Games, the creators of the Grand Theft Auto series of games, seen by some as a rival to the Mafia franchise. Illusion Sofware will from now-on be known as "2K Czeh".

21st August 2007 - Take Two Games have made a press release officially annoucing that they will be publishing Mafia 2, the sequel to Mafia: the City of Lost Heaven. This is the first official news of a sequel!
